Brick construction suggests the kitchen was not built until the 1820s or later. A wide passageway once connected this building to the main house, providing space for food preparation, washing dishes, cleaning and refilling kerosene lamps, and other chores. The kitchen served guests who stayed not only in the main house but also in the Mow and the Big Cottage, two structures located to the south, which no longer exist. In the 1990s, this cottage was remodeled to be a separate dwelling, with a modern kitchen, as well as an extension for the new living room and downstairs bedroom.
